Delwara, a historic town located just outside Udaipur, Rajasthan was one of the 19 princely states of erstwhile Mewar. Delwara’s historic 19th-century Indra Kund stepwell, which was once a public space and a source of water for the community, had fallen into disuse and disrepair over decades of neglect.
InterGlobe Foundation (IGF) has partnered with SevaMandir to boost the efforts of the citizens and the local panchayat of Delwara to clean up Indra Kund.
IGF’s support includes restoring the stepwell to its former glory by cleaning the water, restoring its incredible stonework and fencing to prevent garbage. Indra Kund also had a rare historic Persian Wheel, which will be recreated. The project, initiated in December 2018, will also support in restoring its heritage look while creating entrepreneurial opportunities for the local youth.
