IndiGo takes delivery of its 100th Airbus A320 aircraft today, A first for an Indian low-cost carrier Launches 6E Scholar programme for 100 under-privileged students in partnership with Mensa India National, November 03, 2014:Celebrating the completion of its first order of 100 A-320s placed at the Paris Air Show in 2005, IndiGo, today has announced the launch of the6E Scholar programme in partnership with a globally established organization like Mensa India Marking this milestone, the low cost carrier has decided to sponsor the education and nurturing of 100 underprivileged children whose IQ is at the genius level. Recognized as the world’s oldest and largest high IQ society Mensa India, along with IndiGo, will identify the children over the next six months for consistent nurturing and mentoring. As part of the 6E scholar programme, Mensa-India will hold the IQ tests to identify children with 98 per cent IQ score. These 6E scholars would further be placed into educational streams best suited to their aptitude. Expressing his delight on this initiative, Mr. Aditya Ghosh, President, IndiGo, said, the launch of the '6E Scholar' programme is our small step towards nurturing needs of the nation’s best minds. Through this initiative, we aim to extend our support to the 100 underprivileged children, and help them meet the adequate requirement of good education by coaching and mentoring them till graduation, in support with our NGO partner, Mensa India. For IndiGo, this initiative marks a double milestone as this coincides with our joy of inducting the 100th Airbus A320 aircraft this makes the occasion even more special. From imparting adequate education to the recruitment placements, this newly formulated program is designed to enable these children to grow not only as 6E scholars but also as individuals who would bring difference to the community. Just visualise one of the children you see playing in the sand on a construction site as a future Pilot, an IAS Officer an Army Major or a corporate executive and you can get an idea of the impact this will have on the lives of India's brightest underprivileged children. Having flown over 80 million passengers in over 6,95,139 flights since launch, IndiGo has achieved immense success in the Indian skies, and continues to show steady growth. Key features of the 6E scholar program The 100 children will be selected over the next 6 months from Delhi NCR. Mensa will hold IQ tests for the 6E Scholars across the schools catering to the underprivileged children. 6E scholars would further be placed into educational streams best suited to their aptitude.
